NEW PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAM
"Building Army Strong Families"
Family Morale Welfare Recreation Command’s New Parent Support Program (NPSP) is a program offered to U.S. Army families to enhance parent and infant attachment, increase knowledge of child development, and provide connections to the support services that allow parents to become nurturing and capable caregivers. Strategic Resources, Inc. (SRI) provides trained NPSP professionals who provide in-home parenting education, support, and resource linkage.
The goal of the New Parent Support Home Visitation Program is to deliver services that will promote healthy child and family life skills for parents in their home. The home visitation program provides trained professionals to work with parents of children from prenatal to three years of age. You do not have to be a NEW parent to participate in the program, families that already have children or new parents with children through the age of three are eligible for services.
The program is voluntary and designed to help parents learn to cope with stress, isolation, deployments, reunions and the everyday demands of parenthood. Our trained, supervised home visitors have extensive knowledge of the issues confronting parents and they are sensitive to the unique challenges facing today’s military families.
Home visits are arranged, whenever possible, at your convenience and are flexible to accommodate both parents’ schedule. In addition to home visits, many installations offer parenting classes and playgroups through the Army Community Services and Family Advocacy Program. If you are interested in learning new skills for your growing family, contact one of the New Parent Support Program staff at your installation. Phone numbers for each installation are provided in the link below.
