Survey of Army Families VI Task Order

Under our HRsolutions contract vehicle, SRI has been selected to support the U.S. Army Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command (FMWRC) 2009 Survey of Army Families (SAF) VI, scheduled to be fielded in early 2009. SAF VI is an Army-wide survey of the non-military spouses of Active Army Soldiers. SRI will administer a hard-copy survey and an identical companion web-based survey among samples of 20,000 spouses in each of three subgroups: Soldier spouses currently deployed, deployed but returned, or not deployed.

Since 1987, FMWRC and the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI), Army Personnel Survey Office (APSO) have conducted SAFs every 4 years or so to examine areas important to Army families. The past SAFs have produced high quality, Army-wide data that has served FMWRC and the Army Staff in a wide variety of program and resource decisions. The Chief of Staff, Army or the Vice Chief of Staff, Army have been briefed on findings from past SAFs.

Survey topics include issues related to housing and transportation, relocation, deployments and separations, the Army and you, your background, employment status, volunteer work, Soldier spouse's background, health care, recreation programs and installation services, your children, and the Army way of life. The SAF is designed to obtain information directly from spouses; assess the impact of deployments and separations; assess family member attitudes about the Army way of life as it affects families and about the quality of life for Army families; identify new concerns; and supplement other evaluation and research efforts designed to improve Army support of families.
